In the United States, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May. It is a day to honor mothers and motherhood.
The day was first celebrated on May 10, 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Jarvis then campaigned to make Mother’s Day a national holiday.
In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a law making Mother’s Day a national holiday.
The most powerful word…MOTHER… the first we will say and the last we will whisper.
